Known as the land of a thousand hills (Le Pays des Mille Collines) thanks to the endless ‘ups and downs’ in this stunning country. Rwanda’s breathtaking scenery and warm, friendly people offer unique experiences in one of the most remarkable countries in the world. It is blessed with extraordinary biodiversity, with incredible wildlife living throughout its volcanoes, mountain rainforests and sweeping plains. Of note, Rwanda is one of the only places in the world where you can visit the endangered Mountain Gorillas.
Located a few degrees south of the Equator, Rwanda is a land locked country and is bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.Â

The Race Around Rwanda is organized on public roads. It is the rider’s responsibility to know the traffic laws of the country and to obey them. Riders must use common sense when interacting with traffic.Front and rear lights are mandatory between 6pm and 6am. At least one of each is required, a second one is recommended.Reflective clothing is mandatory between 6pm and 6amWearing of a helmet is required at all times when on the bikeIn case of a medical emergency, it is the rider’s responsibility to contact the emergency services, as well as the organizers.

Once again, the Race Around Rwanda, is a self-supported bikepacking race, over 1.000km and a time limit of 6 days (but a finish party only on day 7, even if you miss cut-off, you can make that one).
40% of the race is over gravel roads, so a gravel bike and good tires is a requirement!
